SEGIB coordinated the first formulation workshop of what aspires to be the first Programme to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women in Ibero-America.
Last Thursday, October 1, SEGIB coordinated the first formulation workshop of what aspires to be the first programme to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women in Ibero-America.
22 participants, representatives of foreign ministries and national entities on gender-based violence from 8 Ibero-American countries participated in the first workshop of the consultation process held to assess the relevance of constituting an Ibero-American Programme to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women.
During this workshop, participating countries exchanged views on priority needs and interests , and agreed to work around the following strategic issues: capacity building and the exchange and systematization of good practices to promote the measurement of the economic cost of violence against women in Ibero-American countries; prevention and response to violence against women in emergency situations; and the production of data and statistics on violence against women.
During the meeting, all the participants agreed that a programme of these characteristics could establish an unprecedented space for the exchange of experiences and knowledge and, therefore, represent an important added value for all participating Ibero-American countries.
