The Ibero-American Initiative to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women
The Ibero-American Initiative to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women was approved in the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Andorra in 2021.
Established with the membership of 10 countries, the Initiative constitutes the first permanent Ibero-American cooperation platform on the prevention and elimination of violence against women.
Through a horizontal cooperation model which brings together countries with different trajectories, that share their experiences on equal terms and participate according to their capabilities, the Initiative will seek to contribute to promoting the development and strengthening of public policies and comprehensive laws to eradicate violence against women; improve comprehensive support services, protection and reparation for women victims/survivors of violence; and strengthen violence against women prevention programs and plans.
