Seminar "Gender-based political violence: progress and challenges in Latin America"

Within the framework of the act of Transfer of the Presidency of the Initiative to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women from the Ministry of Women of the Dominican Republic to the Ministry of Equality of Spain, among other internal activities, it was carried out on Friday, June, the Seminar "Political Violence due to Gender: Advances and challenges in Ibero-America".

Spain assumed the Presidency of the Ibero-American Initiative to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women

Spain assumed on June 23, in Madrid, the Presidency of the Ibero-American Initiative to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women (IIPEVCM), whose general objective is to contribute to the elimination of all forms of violence against women in Latin America from the construction and consolidation of a common frame of reference.

IV Intergovernmental Council

On November 17, 2022, in Punta del Este - Uruguay, the IV Intergovernmental Council (CIG) of the Initiative was held, which brought together 11 member countries and guests: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

Latin America works to prevent and eliminate violence against women

The Ibero-American Initiative to Prevent and Eradicate Violence against Women was approved at the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government held in Andorra, in 2021. This Ibero-American Cooperation initiative was born from the will of the member countries to contribute to the elimination of all forms of violence against women in Latin America.

The Ibero-American Initiative to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women

The Ibero-American Initiative to Prevent and Eliminate Violence against Women was approved at the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Andorra in 2021.

Made up of 10 countries, the Initiative was born as the first permanent platform for Ibero-American cooperation on the prevention and elimination of violence against women.

Through a horizontal cooperation model that brings together countries with different trajectories, who share their experiences on an equal footing and participate according to their capacities, the Initiative will seek to contribute to promoting the development and strengthening of public policies and comprehensive laws to eradicate violence against women; improve care, protection and comprehensive reparation for women victims/survivors of violence; and strengthen programs and plans to prevent violence against women.
